At La Paz Chattanooga, we believe a diverse community is a strong community. This Hispanic/Latino Heritage Month, we’re honored to shine a light on the staff members who embody our mission — to empower and engage Chattanooga’s Latino population through advocacy, education, and inclusion. Across this series, you’ll meet individuals whose passion, stories, and commitment help shape our work and the relationships we build.

Q: Can you share a little about your professional background? 

A: I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work and have worked with the Hispanic/Latino community for almost 5 years.

Q: What led you to join the team at La Paz? How long have you been with the organization? 

A: I have been at La Paz since January of 2023. I joined La Paz because my friend told me about La Paz and all the great work they do with the Latino community in Chattanooga. I then did some research and knew that I wanted to be a part of the team.

Q: Tell me a little about the work you do each day. Feel free to share a story or vignette that highlights your contributions to the team! 

A: As the Intake Coordinator, I have the pleasure of being one of the first faces our clients see when they visit La Paz. A big part of my job is to make sure that I give clients a warm welcome, and when I intake their information, I do my best to make sure I ask all the right questions about their case while also making sure the clients feel heard and understood.

Q: What excites you the most about the future of La Paz and the work you do? 

A: I am excited for the future of La Paz. I started in 2023 and have been amazed by all the wonderful things La Paz has done for our community members, helping advocate for their rights, providing educational opportunities, and generally helping to make the Hispanic/Latino community feel included in the Chattanooga community.

Q: What’s one thing you wish every member of the Chattanooga community knew about La Paz or the people it serves? 

A: The people La Paz serves are not just recipients of help — they are entrepreneurs, parents, students, professionals, and leaders who bring strength, culture, and resilience to Chattanooga.

P: ¿Puedes compartir un poco sobre tu trayectoria profesional?

R: Tengo una licenciatura en Trabajo Social y he trabajado con la comunidad hispana/latina por casi 5 años.

P: ¿Qué te llevó a unirte al equipo de La Paz? ¿Cuánto tiempo llevas en la organización?

R: Estoy en La Paz desde enero de 2023. Me uní porque una amiga me habló de La Paz y del gran trabajo que hacen con la comunidad latina en Chattanooga. Luego investigué un poco más y supe que quería formar parte del equipo.

P: Cuéntame un poco sobre el trabajo que realizas cada día. ¡No dudes en compartir una historia o anécdota que resalte tus aportes al equipo!

R: Como Coordinadora de Recepción (Intake), tengo el placer de ser una de las primeras caras que ven nuestros clientes cuando visitan La Paz. Una gran parte de mi trabajo es asegurarme de darles una bienvenida cálida, y al tomar su información, trato de hacer todas las preguntas correctas sobre su caso, asegurándome también de que se sientan escuchados y comprendidos.

P: ¿Qué es lo que más te entusiasma sobre el futuro de La Paz y el trabajo que realizas?

R: Estoy muy emocionada por el futuro de La Paz. Comencé en 2023 y me ha sorprendido todo lo maravilloso que La Paz ha hecho por los miembros de nuestra comunidad — desde abogar por sus derechos, brindar oportunidades educativas, hasta hacer que la comunidad hispana/latina se sienta incluida en Chattanooga.

P: ¿Qué es una cosa que desearías que cada miembro de la comunidad de Chattanooga supiera sobre La Paz o sobre las personas a las que sirve?

R: Las personas a las que sirve La Paz no son solo beneficiarios de ayuda — son emprendedores, padres, estudiantes, profesionales y líderes que aportan fortaleza, cultura y resiliencia a Chattanooga.
